Still Alive

New site design is already taken a bit of revamp, I thought the colors from before made it look like clowns were town...too bad you did not see that one!  It was terrible!

I have come up with a cleaner fresher looking version that I still do not have a release date on :~(

I have made several new Icons - I suppose they are not bad for first timer!

I also have a new layout, would like to hold on to it until the reveal of new site design...will have to see how much longer it is going to take me.

The Brains of the Operation

What a very trying week, I put the revamp on hold to take care of business clients and making a (well what I thought would be) small tweak to the Marquee I was using. I found a really nice piece of code for a Horizonital Pausing Marquee, free* download from everything I was reading, the read me files did not indicate that needed to be purchased in order for you to use it.  The shock came to me after I uploaded the files to the server and went to test the 'live' page!  Every test here was fine, no errors, no warnings, no nothing that would indicate that it was not free* to use!  Only a Copywrite that had to stay in place...fine I can not write that kind of code on my own so I do not mind giving credit where credit is due.

So I load the live page and a box pops up in the middle of my screen that indicates 'this product must me purchased in order to be used online' - WOW! A little heads up would have been great, this is in the middle of the afternoon when people are online.  I spent 15 mins breathing deeply and getting this mess undone.  It would be rude to out the company right here online when they will not read this and be able to put up some sort of defence. I will say that in the past I have used a menu program by the same company that did not do this and was fairly happy with - luckly the fix this time was easy and did not seem to cause any probs and on on that note I will say that Jay here at Dot Com Spot just designed a couple of DCS Custom Menu Templates so that we do not have this problem again, I can not wait to see what he comes up with next!

In regaurds to the Marquee I went back to the realiable Dynamic Drive, I love the codes they offer and found one that is simple but effective and FREE to use with the notes left in the code for credit, A BIG Shout out to the people that post great code for us not so 'programming' types to use - you guys make us look good - Thank You!

It is almost complete

Just an F.Y.I. for everyone.

The Re-Vamp of Dot Com Spot is in the final stages.  The major graphics are 95% complete, Layout is 75-80% complete - this includes getting all current D.C.S. info transferred over to the new layout and working out any obsticles there.  I expect that the new site layout will be updated in the next 2 weeks.  I have also made plans to bring back a 'Mall' Shopping Page for a few stores that I like with the possibility of a few auction sites as well. 

I am excited about the new layout and can not wait to get it up!

Change is in the Air

Well just to keep everyone up to date....

I have decided to revamp DotComSpot.com again.

Just wait til you see what I have in store, working on a custom built menu, new graphics and layout.

I will post again once it is complete, might be a week or 2 before the final layout is done.

Beggs Chamber

Things here have slowed down just a bit, I have completed the design layout for the Beggs Chamber and will be showing them on Monday the 22nd.  Web site design can be really nerve racking!  I started out with this theme that I could not stand, they picked a new one (trains)  and I started this grand scheme just to determine that it was not what I wanted.  I hate having to start over sometimes, although I do some of my best work after I have scrapped the first draft.

Any Hoo it is getting hte finishing touches and should be ready to go on Monday. 

Business is starting to pick up and I am going to have to look into getting some business cards soon, one more project..goodie, goodie!

I will let everyone know how it goes on Monday

Busy Week!

So I am still posting to 2 boards but I have decided that I would keep them seperate....

I will post Web Site Design info over here and on MySpace it will be all about MySpace designs, this is the idea and running theory I am going with at this point. I may very soon, depending on where business lies, change but I will keep you posted.

I am enjoying working with the MySpace code, it is all CSS! I have learned so much so far and it is just the tip of the iceburg.  There are so many people that have already done this and have sites that have great info on them. 

I am going to start focusing all my designing to the Beggs Chamber site this week and will keep you updated there too!

Things finally coming together

I have not been out here in awhile, I have been super busy and most of it has not even been work related.  Families keep you busy and it never ends.  I do not mind as long as we are all having fun!

So in all this busy-ness I have managed to put together a few layouts, you can check those out in 'Hot New Layouts'.  I just finished my personal MySpace page, Dot Com Spot's MySpace is done too,  and last but certainly not least a very dear friends MySpace layout and design. I still have to get my wonderful husbands done. He is so patient.

Oh and some good news, I went back to the Beggs Chamber Meeting today to show them some of my work and let them know what having a web site can do for them.  They are also going to vote to change the motto from "Checkerboard City" to something with a more historical theme like what the town was founded around....the railroad. If you read my MySpace blog I mentioned that very idea there.  Hey maybe more people read my Blog then I thought.

So that is where I am, I am happy here and have one more big project that I can not wait to get started on. I do believe that it is going to be an E-Commerce site which will be nice to add to my portfolio.  I shall keep you posted, I am going to start trying to blog once a week or so now that I working more. 

As always if you need work done or know of someone who does pass my name along.  I have been known to barter for designs.
